Freising, Bavaria, Germany marinaalekseeva... we had kinderpunsch and glühwein and the goose cookie. It was nice. The kids loved it. But I forgot my camera so I didn't get any pictures.

One of my best friends, Lena, is coming today with her sister. I'm so excited. She's been traveling around Europe for almost a week now and her last stop is here! She's only staying until Saturday so I'm not sure what we're planning on doing yet. But I guess we'll see.
Munich, Bavaria, Germany kthuman(61 miles) Today, we rode a little too hard and realized that we probably need to slow down a bit. Its kinda the tortoise and the hare bit. We mostly rode today not a whole lot of sight seeing. Chrissy hit some gravel today and fell of her bike skinning her knee. Also we saw a lady on a bike get hit by a car. I guess it's just one of those days? After our long day we showed up at the less expensive very welcoming canoe/camping place.
Blaibach, Bavaria, Germany randyandchrissy... the sudden hill. Next was a long run towards a very prominent hill with a church on top. The hills are getting a bit closer too. Straubing looked great but was the victim of a shortcut. Progress was so good that I decided to press on and make the most distance possible in the sun. Lunch was in a bus shelter; very handy shelter. The path was basically on or by the dyke so tended to be flat if oddly signposted in a couple of places. It was a fairly normal day but with lots of people ...
waltendorf, bavaria, Germany i_could_walkThis was where we found the best hostel of our travels. The place was great. It had it's own bar and a couple of "happy hours" a day. After a day's wandering we would spend some time playing pool, watching Fox sport and drinking beer with other backpackers. It was like going to a party every night. We even met an Aussie working behind the bar there one night. Munich ...
Munich, Bavaria, Germany danandrozWe picked Straubing because it is in a pretty part of Bavaria. Our hotel turned out to be at the back of a car hire place a fair way from town - need to pay more attention during the booking I guess. Anyway, the hotel wasn't too bad, though we had to drive into the town. Straubing itself is quite a nice medium ...
Straubing, Germany nlevac... at my school have said very hateful comments about other cultures and races. Obviously, this is very bothersome. But what also gets to me is the hypocrisy that follows. This view that Americans are close minded and not open to other cultures is not in any way justified. Especially when compared to the amount of prejudice I have experienced here. I am, by no means, saying that America is free of hate and prejudice. I'm sure we have just as much as any ...
Regensburg, Germany hannahb... Mozart 250th birtdhay exhibit. It was ok, it didn't cover his music so much as his life. Although there was a little irony, in that Mozart was on record as despising his home town of Salzburg, and yet he town had made a major business enterprise from his fame. But hey, at least they had the guts to actualy tell people how Mozart felt about Salzburg in the exhibit. We also learned that Mozart loved coffee, and that the very coffee house we sat at on Monday was his favorite ...
