... all the tapas bars showcasing the famous pintxos, a collection of finger food items spread out on the bar. It was Friday night, and Donostia (the basque name of the city) felt very much alive and socially vibrant, as its inhabitants wandered the pedestrian streets to meet up with friends and start entering tapas bars to enjoy local delicacies in an upbeat atmosphere. That was all fine until I decided that I wasn't quite sure where to go next, then Mitch's eagle eyes spotted some taxis parked up. After using my best (not very good) French to ask the taxi driver how far away our hotel was we were told by him it was only 200m up the road and he pointed us in the right direction.
