Travel Blogs by Travelers Who Stayed at the Reina Cristina Algeciras

Day 5

Our second day in Sevilla is started out with a quick bite at a place of which I can't remember the name near Plaza Nueva on c. Albareda. We needed quick because our walking tour of Sevilla started in 20 minutes. We scheduled a walking tour of Sevilla with the afore mentioned Paseando por Sevilla, and again had Alfonso. As I said before he was extremely helpful and while my parents enjoyed the tour I spent the majority of it calling hotels in Granada on his cell phone and asking for them for ...

Algeciras

Day 28 Sara and I decided to go stay in Algeciras because of its proximity to everything. We were staying in a hotel called Reina Cristina where Winston Churchill once stayed. The hotel was beautiful, and grande but it definitely hasn't changed since winston churchill stayed there. It was like the twilight zone, stepping back in time. So the first day we just chilled, didnt get in until late afternoon, so had drinks, ate a horrible buffet dinner and then listened to the lounge singer. We real...

The attendent also brought us a single wrapped jelly bean half way through our 5 hour trip, which was very wierd and made us both laugh.

We had a really good tapas meal in Algeciras, which was also scorching hot, and sorted evrything out before our ferry ...

On the Ferry

We are sitting on the ferry and it has only just hit us how hard this is going to be! All the truck drivers don't want to take us for insurance reasons and families have no room..eek! Despite this we are still positive although Jennie is grumpy because we are not letting her go to the shop!

... altezza.

... few times. As one particularly insistent guy follows us toward the border crossing, I completely lose my grip. "NOOOOOO!!!" Then a stream of obscenities that would have made a pirate blush came out of my mouth. I called him and all of the other touts standing around every name I could think of and basicly dared them to do any thing about it. I had hit my gypsy breaking point and this douche bag was catching it full force. The guards at the gate found this to be pretty ...

... the street. After a decent walk, we found a place and enjoyed our last Moroccan breakfast. Then we had to confirm our flight to Germany - after finding a place to call Germany - they said yep its fine and sounded as though we didn't really have to call after all... the buggers! Back to get our bags, we got a taxi to the port. A few touts raced up asking if we wanted fast boats, but after saying no we had a tout free walk into one of the ferry ticket offices where they ...

Tangier

I made the mistake of arriving in Tangier too early for my train to Marrakesh at 11pm tonight. The station doesn't have a locker so I was forced to eithre walk around with my huge pack all day or find a cheap place to leave my bags. Walking around Tangier with a huge pack on was about the worst case scenario I could think of. The faux guides in this city feed off of the weak and believe me I would have been looking pretty pathetic lugging that thing around all afternoon. The port ...

... a reasonable meal and a long walk. This morning we explored the medina, including the kasbah and had a spicy pea-soup for breakfast. It's nice to be back with reasonable prices - about Australian or cheaper, perhaps a fifth of European prices. We are able to leave a bag at the pension we stayed in, which will make travelling easier. Now, off to Tetuan. Raymond's Travel Page
