... they are not pies here, they are empanadas but essentially they are pastry wrapped around a filling. Cheap as can be and very, very tasty.

Aude had booked a table for dinner at El Diez, an Argentinian steak house. The menu was a bit confusing, even comparing English, Spanish & French versions it was hard to determine the cuts of meat. Everyone took a guess on ordering and no one was disappointed.

... a cheaper place to hang out - Just 10 blocks back from the beach, there are hardly any tourists, just locals, with market stalls and food stalls that open up in the evenings. Lots of local restaurants with delicious food. It was nice to find a piece of proper Mexico away from all the tourist stuff.

But at least we know we've had as much fun as humanly possible, and we'll be carrying that burst of winter sunshine with us for the weeks to come. We're also carrying eight bottles of very decent wine secreted in our luggage as we had hundreds of dollars of resort credits still to use last night and, determined not to ...

... the Lonely Planet as a hippie vibe town and far less touristy than Cancun. I can't say enough how glad I am I did not go to Cancun. I wouldn't use the word "Hippie" at all to describe Playa, but if you stay off 5th Ave and explain to taxi drivers you aren't American and therefore aren't paying whatever ludicrous price they're trying to charge you - then you're fine.

The beach at Playa was the most beautiful I've ever seen. Turquoise water, white sand - it really ...
