We pulled over after a few hours for a break and to make our snacks. Not understanding Italian when in a market means you buy croissants filled with apricots and honey - not sandwich stuffing croissants at all. ... until a nice group gave us an extra they had. We found 2 ampatheaters and there is a coliseum, these are at the far end of the city so we had a long jaunt after an already long day but it was worth it, we were among the last to leave, saying "the next time" we should get there first thing in the morning before the hordes arrive and the heat to do a proper exploration with the help of an audio guide.

General Impressions of Sorrento
The people here are very friendly to visitors and speak more english than on the islands. Menus are usually in English and Italian. No place serves tap water, you must buy a bottle of water with gas (sparking) or no gas, (still water). We find very few green vegetables are served other than zucchini.
