... Students and children under aged 25 have free entry to all the galleries....how wonderful!
We departed the Left Bank via Batobus.....also a nice way to travel up and down the Seine. We returned early to our hotel with local grocery purchases in tow.
Sandy and I went out again to take a tour of Paris at dusk via a boat on the Seine. This was a wonderful! 2 hours return....and just taking in the sights at night gave a different perspective. I think this would be the ...
... quite a big deal. I toyed with the idea of going to see him but decided that because I'm not really religious it wasn't worth the hastle. I did watch a lot of the procession on TV though... I went to see my first French movie the other day. For three days they had movies for 3,50 euros so a couple friends and I went to see "Comme les Autres," a film about a gay guy who ...
Paris, France kellygrugan... could begin in mid-September. Unfortunately, the director of the company was not interested in trying to acquire a visa for me. The process would have included advertising the job opening for at least a month and creating a dossier demonstrating that there is no French or European Union citizen who is qualified/capable of doing the job instead. How are you supposed to do that?! So I'm quite disappointed (yes, I had already painted my life in Paris in rosy hues), but one day....
Paris, Île-de-France, France ilona1229... was for you Bruce) Getting caught in a thunderstorm just outside Sacre Couer Mass at Notre Dame Enjoying a leisurely morning in the magnificent Luxemborg Palais gardens and hearing a brass band An amazing evening spent with a 70+ german woman (longtime Paris resident ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France travelinsara... au chocolat! Yum! Beibei ordered what was listed in English translation as "hamburger with egg fries." We were wondering what "egg fries" would look like when it came and when it did come to the table, we saw that it should have been listed as "hamburger with egg, (COMMA) fries" or something like that. The burger was a meat patty with a sunny side up egg on top. No bun. The fries were on the side. Very ...
Paris, Île-de-France, France addicted2travel... for the day, the Eiffel Tower. It had been about 4 years since I had been there. Last year when I was in Paris we hadn't stopped, and in high school we came to it at night. I remember barely taking it in. How scared, insecure, and naive I was back then. Now I looked at it through new eyes, and new light. We walked around the parks surrounding it for a while, and I took many beautiful shots of it, and the ...
Paris, France rainydaygirl13... completely rude to someone, tho this someone was out to get me. Anyhow, we checked out the cathedral, saw a bit of the mass that was taking place, and walked around the outskirts of the cathedral, taking in all its glorious architecture. We decided not to walk up to the towers because 1) we were exhausted and 2) we just didn't really want to at the time. It may have been a mistake, but oh well. Next time. After this we found a nice sushi place where I, Francis ...
Paris, France copperboom... the busy city streets. Little children ran freely on the pebble-lined paths or, with long sticks in their pudgy grip, pushed tiny sailboats in the man-made ponds. Green lawns became earthen beds for tired travelers and sweet couples. People slept, ran, danced and strolled. It was magical. Nicole, Elise and I found 3 chairs near the middle of the gardens and rested our feet for about a half hour. I swear, I am so content sitting and just watching people - it ...
Paris, France jen86... bold enough to tolerate such a setup. The second one I found was more traditional. I wanted to take off my shirt and wash my pits, but I didn't 'cause the bathroom was busy and full of foreigners. Turns out that was a good decision: I splashed water on my face to cool myself off (it was about 80 in the terminal) and then I found out that there are no towels. There is only a blow-drying thing. And it didn't work. So I walked around ...
Paris, France dgookinThe exhibition at the Orsay of Pissaro and Cezanne just opened and it is wonderful. (http://www.musee-orsay.fr) Cezanne and Pissaro were friends who both felt inspired by the other. Over a period of twenty-some years, they often worked alongside each other painting similar still lifes and landscapes, sharing the views of Pontoise and Auvers sur-Oise. Despite their close association, their works always retained their own characteristics. Both artists were part of ...
