High Wycombe, England, United Kingdom john-vanda... eat at Grannie and Granddad's that we feel quite at home. The waitress asks us if we are heading for legoland and we say yes but we are first heading for Windsor castle, she tells us that legoland is closed because they had some plumbing issues , I guess they had also had had a lot of rain. Brady is disapointed as are we, ( until we later see the price of addmission, it;s really expensive like 38 pounds for adults and 28 for children double that for ...
Newbury, England, United Kingdom koltzoo... each day, and our committment is to work for 5 hours a day for the upkeep of the community. The community also runs facilities used for conferences, a camping ground and sweat lodge facility, and B & B on a very small scale. Some residents have part time jobs outside the community and work in jobs such as nursing, special aid teaching and book keeping. We are here for 3 weeks in total. Already our imaginations have been set ablaze with ...
Braziers Park, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom peekayloon... are so many I want to see I'm going to have to narrow the list down a bit. Friday night I went with Mike and my roomate to go see a band that his co-worker is in. Mind you he works at Parliament so it was pretty funny to see this man who I'm sure wears a suit and tie every day rock out on stage. I felt like such a local! Saturday was a wonderful day because I got to see Ed and Sherri! It was so great to see some people from home. We had a great day in ...
Windsor, United Kingdom ms.whitingOn Tuesday I flew back to England from Madrid. The flight was uneventful, though a bit sad...looking out the window while leaving Madrid I wanted the plane to turn around and take me back! But, on to new adventures. I am staying in a place called Caversham, which is about 40min outside London. Or as Ange likes to call it: Caversham-on-Thames. Ben, Angela & 10 month-old Anna have just moved here from Canada, so I am visiting them ...
Caversham, United Kingdom skye... bit with markers and gave it to my girl. I watched her read it through and then tuck it away in a pocket. I hope she takes it seriously. I know those things can be a bit cheesy, but if it has the potential to help her self-esteem a bit, I am willing to put it out there. The rest of the day was lovely, with great groups of students. I did have a bit of an annoyance with a few characters in citizenship who were throwing wads of paper despite many admonitions for them ...
Maidenhead, United Kingdom tmarooch... I am starting to get used to the moving around, and while I haven't managed to go from one room to another in one trip yet, I am starting to develop a system of "stuff transfer". Thankfully, most of my rooms are not too far apart, so taking a couple of trips is not unmanageable. Friday was busy as well, but not so much because of the classes as for preparation to go into London after school for the autumn Fulbright teachers' meeting. I had to bring all my ...
