We parked close to Pier 33 (USD 14 for 12 hours) and started to walk towards the Alcatraz Landing. It was 8.30 and the place was already packed with lots of tourists. The first boat was scheduled for 8.45, but we had to wait for the next one departing at 9.10. In the meantime we could walk around the model of Alcatraz Island and go through some basic information about this eldest federal prison in the United States.

... neighbourhood called 'the Mission' which is very hipster cool and where all the younger crowd live and hang out who work for Facebook, Google etc. We went to a cool little place called 'Curry up now' which was like a mix of Mexican and Indian street food. ... were both quiet and slept a lot so no chatter. There was a bit more chatter in Susan's row - not all her. We were in a much better frame of mind than when we left.
The wind must have been blowing in the right direction as we landed pretty much on time to then spend over an hour and a half in the immigration queue. With over 550 passengers it takes a while to be processed into the USA.

... the last few days in Oakland. Saturday night encompassed a BBQ and karaoke. I rocked Proud Mary but got slightly too much into the dancing and missed some queues.
