... the hijacked flight from Boston as the hostess reported a stabbing and potential hijacking. That remained with me for several days afterwards. The hotel which I was staying at was also in the original blast zone which was very surreal. What took me aback was the incredible bravery of the American servicemen, prioritizing the lives of complete strangers over that of themselves.
Very much sobered after this experience, I headed off to Brooklyn ...
A warm, sunny Saturday meant brunch in Chelsea and a walk through the Meatpacking district. The sounds of the tyres on the old cobble stoned roads, the factories converted to upscale shops, Apple in an old Fire station, Sephora (visit number 9), Google, trendy cafes and boutique clothing stores. Just an amazing part of NYC.

Luckily I saw a man carrying a shopping bag from Zabar's so we quickly googled the address (80th & Broadway) & ended up having one of the highlights of the trip - lunch in an old Jewish deli sitting at a communal table listening to a bunch of old Jewish women talking while eating some of the best food we've ever eaten.
