Historical Traveler Reviews of Regence Nice
Wonderful hotel!

I read the positive reviews before deciding to go there and found them to be totally accurate. I got the bus from the airport, walked for 5 minutes and found it on a pedestrian street in easy reach of all facilities. Spotlessly clean and friendly and helpful staff. No bath in the bathroom but a wonderful power shower. Not a problem for me but I know some people prefer a bath. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would definitely stay there again. Visited the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul - an hour by bus from the bus station - a must for anyone who likes modern art and scupture. It is a fair walk from the bus stop however for anyone who is not too fit. The town itself is picturesque and sells wonderful reasonably priced jewelery. Narrow winding streets add to its charm. The cafe as you arrive has a pleasant outdoor seating area and sells good reasonably priced sandwiches and drinks.
Small, but very clean rooms

Regence Hotel has a perfect location in the middle of Nice - near everything. I stayed in a Junior Room - the room was very small, but charming and very clean. Classique room was bigger, but the junior room had the cutest bathroom. I will definitly stay at Regence Hotel next time in Nice - but then I will make sure I get a room facing the backyard, not the street (a bit noisy).

We have just returned from the Regence Hotel in Nice 30/04/05-04/05/05. What an exellent hotel on the Rue Messena right in the middle of Nice.
The Rue Messena is a pedestrianised street full on Restaurants, Bars & fabulous Shops you really do not have to look much further for your evening entertainment. The hotel is ideally situated for the main Bus & Railway Station in Nice only a 10-15 minute walk away. The beach (peebly)is on 5 minutes away.
The airport is only 7 kilometres from the centre & is easy reached by bus (every 20 mins) & only 4 euros single it only took 15-20 minutes. We also did a trip to Antibes on the train which was very efficent & on time only 7 euros return & there was plenty of trains only 25 minutes & if you were lucky the express only took 15 minutes. We also did the open top hop on hop off bus tour for only 17 euros which we thought was exellent value for money. If you stayed on the tour lasted one & a half hours & had headphones with running commentray.
The Hotel Regence was fabulous value for money the rooms were small but spotlessly clean we did have a wall mounted TV also Air Conditioning. The bathroom was all tiled and again spotlessy clean with clean towels every day.
The satff were all freiendly & were there to help if you had a query & always had a smile
The breakfast was continental but enjoyable.
We had a brillient time in Nice & will return & will stay at the Regence Hotel again 10 out of 10

Myself and a friend stayed at the Regence hotel this month for four nights, after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. The hotel is in the perfect location, within a short walk of the beach (pebbles!), the old town, markets and the train and bus stations. The staff were really helpful, advising us to do trips ourselves rather than paying the high prices for organised trips. That was the best advice we had, we went to Monaco on the bus for just a few euros and paid only 8 euros for a return trip on the train to Cannes. Next time I would go first class just for fun, as I hear it's not much more expensive!
The hotel is clean and the room was just what we needed, the bathroom was spotless. We were at the back of the hotel so although we didnt have a great view this didnt matter as the view wasn't the reason for our visit. We heard no noise at night time and yet when you step out of the hotel you're in the middle of a busy pedestrianised area. It is perfect for two girls travelling together as you can stay out late in a restaurant and not have to worry about getting back to the hotel.
I highly recommend the Regence and would definately stay there again.
A Real Good Value Hotel. Would be hard to beat.

My wife and i stayed here September 2004. We really enjoyed Nice and this hotel we thought was excellent. Clean with good service. The desk staff were very helpful and nice. All spoke good english. Maria was particularly helpful. We were satisified with every aspect from room to meals. We would definitely return here again and recommend to anyone.

we've just returned from a short break in Nice and stayed at the Regence after reading reviews on this site.
It is a brilliant hotel right on the main pedestrian street. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are basic but very well kept and very very clean.
Breakfast is continental stle with croissants etc. I would definately stay there again and would reccommend it as a great budget choice.

Just back from a four day stay at the Regence hotel.
Excellent location with very helpful staff, nothing to much trouble. The rooms were clean and very pleasantly decorated, the toilet facilities were excellent. With such a good location it was easy to walk to the old town, beach and main shopping area. Easy to bus to and from the airport.
Will definately stay again.
Perfect Location!

Hotel Regence is situated in a perfect location - 2 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute walk to the bus station and 10 minute walk to the train station. The room was clean and had a very nice ensuite shower room. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and modern. The room also had a wall mounted TV, safe and air conditioning.
The hotel is in a pedestrainsed area with a great selection of shops, restaurants and bars on the doorstep but quiet at night.
I would highly recommend using this hotel. The staff were always helpful and friendly.
It's easy to get to the Regence from the airport - just get the bus outside to the bus station and from there it is a 5 minute walk.
Nice is a lovely place and I will definitely go back again.
Marvellous Staff

The reception staff (particularly Maria) were so helpful. The room was small but clean - it had a very nice, en-suite shower room which was spotlessly clean and modern. There is a hairdryer in the en-suite but I would recommend (girls) taking your own as it could be a long job! Wardrobe space was limited. There is a wall-mounted TV. The air-conditioning was effective. There is a safe in the room. It's easy to get to the Regence from the airport - just get the bus to Place Massena or near to the Casina Ruhl and walk the few minutes onto Rue Massena. The lobby is lovely - cool, clean and modern. There is a lift. The bus station is a five minute walk from the hotel and it's very easy to find your desired destination displayed on a big board. The old town of Nice is by far the nicest part and you should definitely visit it - it changes during the different times of the day from fish, flower, flea and antique markets to stylish restaurants and bars. A visit to the Chateau is well worth a visit too - we walked and it is a very long uphill trek - you can get there by car or the little tourist train. I wouldn't however suggest Nice for a beach holiday - the beach is made up of big pebbles and it's a steep slope down into the water. Have a great time - We did!
Very central
from surreymiss
Hotel Regence is very centrally located on the rue Massena just off the main Place Massena. It is situated in a pedestrianised area with a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars on the doorstep, also within very easy walking distance of the beach and old town. Although surrounded by bars and restaurants it was very quiet at night, although we did have a room at the back. View from our room was over rooftops which wasn't particularly nice, but as we were only in it at night it didn't really matter. Understand hotel was refurbished last year. Rooms are small with limited wardrobe space - adequate though for a weekend stay. En-suite bathrooms are also small. The whole hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained and decor is very neutral. Would definitely stay here again as it is so central and cheap.
