... call it "crow castle " as it is painted black.

We then caught the train to Kurashika which has old historic buildings that had mostly been storehouses and granaries in the old days. Kurashiki means "store house village". They are situated on a canal system. It was very low key and we seemed to be the only foreigners there but it has a very good art gallery with original Picasso's, Matisse, Cezanne, Joan Mori and others. A rich local ...

At Kyoto station we found a cafe selling a "toast set" and so that is what we ordered. Buttered toast arrived accompanied by a small salad with something fishy on top as well as a small dish of yoghurt, a jammy substance and something orange. We whipped out the ...

... and a half bottles of wine. Whoops.

On Sunday 11th, we were hung-oh-ver, but needed to check out and see some of the sights in Okayama. We managed breakfast and packing well, left our bags with the hotel, and headed to Okayama castle and the Korakuen gardens. About a kilometre along the road, we happened upon some kind of food convention, ignored it, and went to the castle grounds where there was another kind of food convention. We ...
