The tour, a bargain at 1k, was not until 3.30pm so hung around in the sunny yard soaking up the scenery and artefacts - didn't take long to soak up the 2 tiny shots that were included in the tour though was good and very reasonably priced but no space to lug around a bottle of the hard stuff as would need mixers too!

Before all was said and done though, we did manage to get over the worst of it and to enjoy some of the local scene in Santiago. The highlight of the quiet time spent in the city had to be the Chilean style BBQ at our guesthouse that included a rack of ribs from what must have been one long pig.

We will be back in Santiago on Saturday and will update ...

... the roof tent combine to make us feel a little top-heavy and this becomes something of a white-knuckle ride for me as the vehicle bounces from side to side over rocks and potholes. Meanwhile, Liam calmly rounds the hairpin bends, and, when the road straightens for a moment or two, he lifts his gaze to enjoy the view. And what a view it is! Under a cloudless blue sky, the desert mountain landscape gives way, at high elevation, to snow covered peaks and rows of icy seracs march ...

... town of Qoicimbo, along the beach side, beautiful. I returned the bike and went to the plaza da armas, Cathedral, Archeological and Historical Museum, before going in the Japon park, which would probably have been better, had I been interested in plants. It was relaxing ...
