We are slowly wandering South. The aires in Savoie are not wonderful. Some are just scraps of land where the commune has put a Borne for which you have to buy tokens or taped off the electric points. We left Challes and drove just 30 km to La Cheylas. Reasonable aire, but noisy. Trains about half a mile away across a field and right next to a busy road. We only stayed for a night. Now we are at a campsite right on a lake. To get to it, we have come through ...

After a horrid nights sleep, with 3 of us not well, we left Asti and drove towards the French border and the formidable Alps. ... the season. - we are supposed to be chasing the SUN!!!!!

We managed to get some French TV and the forecast for the next 2 days was for full suns and temps of 16 deg. This meant we should have a good journey through the mountains
We went to bed with hot water bottles and PJ's and hoped that our water pipes didn't ...

After breakfast I pump up the tyre to 3 bars and bid goodbye to my host, Stefan. For the solo traveller it is expensive to stay here (€59.50 for bed & breakfast) but I reckon I could be back again. Maybe next year with Mick.

The local garage is a few kilometres down the mountain, in the town Valdeblore. It appears to be a one-man operation, run by Eric. He takes about three minutes to ...
