We arrived in Grants Pass Oregon.

Not much else to do in Coos Bay if you're not a shopper so we stopped by a grocery and picked up some ribeye steaks and veggies to bbq for dinner. It was a little foggy towards dinner time but the new bbq didn't fail to produce excellent steaks! Our guide also pointed out sink holes, fault lines and silt deposits brought in by floods which have never moved so it was interesting from a geological point of view.
We had seen many bats the night before as we drove up the valley road and while we ate dinner in the dark, greatly appreciating the excellent job they had done in mopping up the mosquitoes. It was delightful to relax outside without that irritating drone and bite.
