    ... when we left Rte. 1 &, 2 miles later, the view was completely obscured by FOG. You couldn't even make out the faintest view of a lighthouse!

    Further south and terrain becomes more tree-covered, road becomes more twisty. There are cattle guards across road here & there.

    11:35 AM - Arrived in Bodega Bay & make a quick stop at a convenience store for coffee.
    Pretty area.

    ... to the campsite the day before. Then it passes a steaming geothermal vent before starting to ascend through the hills. This first section of the hike is said to be one of the most challenging as it mostly goes uphill and the net ascent is 500 metres, but I don't find it too challenging despite the heavy load on my back, as the scenery is so astonishing along the way. The excellent weather and perfect visibility mean that I can see everything for miles ...

    Monday began bright and early at 7 a.m. Lori and I ate breakfast at the lodge and registered for our conference. We met the presenters, Sue Pearson and Patty Harrington, and chatted with them about our experience with the Highly Effective Teaching model (I have zero experience, Lori has some).
