... demonstrations/experiences to see because it was not the weekend. They seem to run a limited experience programme during the weekdays, but still charge the same price. I guess the trade off was a very quiet zoo experience. After the zoo we had dinner at Cheesecake Factory. We both had salads and we shared a 30th birthday cheesecake. It was a reasonably warm day today, but it was pants weather so no shorts today. As we head south from tomorrow we will be getting back to hotter ...

... some original old houses and cottages to the site to recreate a village. There were log cabins the first pioneers built in about 1830-1840, then the railway came through in about 1865 and the houses got a lot fancier! Even at that time they were bigger than a standard NZ 3 bedroom home these days. Heaps of people have paid full-time jobs at this museum to run the stores and welcome guests into “their homes”. Working blacksmith, tin-smith, millers, hat-makers etc. ...

... so it was feeding time and everyone heading inside for the night. The gorillas didn’t like us looking at them so one ran across the glass and pounded his fist again the glass at us! Then we watched the lions come inside, the momma was pregnant. As we got to the tiger area we caught the momma tiger playing with its two cubs! They were running around chasing each other, so so cute!

We went back to their house and played cards and had a few drinks, before ...
