We left Ithaca today and here is how it went; travelled by taxi, ferry, taxi, more taxi, airplane and bus. I sat at a cafe so long I got wired on coffee, then some kid kicked a soccer ball into me, then I got bit up by mosquitoes at a restaurant and at least one of the cabbies over charged us. We started the day at 7 a.m. in an all-island electrical blackout on Ithaca (we had breakfast by lantern light) and ended it in a pretentious, over-priced, rip-off restaurant ...
... was in a lot of pain. Marco had had to run him to the hospital. The doctor thought he needed antibiotics as the knee was inflamed. He may have twisted it somehow - we'll know more after his x-Ray on Tuesday. We went down to the village for tea- Marky had moussaka and I had lamb off the spit. Very yummy. We awoke to a beautiful sunny morning. We could hear boats putting out of the harbour, roosters crowing, birds singing and the occasional goat bell ringing from the hills above. We opened the package my sister Janina had given us when we left. It was a beautiful hand painted card with a poem she'd written especially for us!
