Finally pushed on into Vermont....crossed the Connecticut River....and arrived in a rainy, blowy Woodstock. Found the Blue Horse Inn and settled into our huge room...unfortunately in the front of the house again.....so a bit noisy with the passing traffic.
Enjoyed meeting other couples from the Bay Area at the complimentary wine hour, then braved the elements to go to dinner.....the only place we could find was Bentley's.

We don’t want to leave
... who lived in the 1800s.The detail in his work is unbelievable. I was particularly taken with the detail in the clothing: the way the pants slightly creased at the shoe, the folds in the cloaks. I can’t imagine how anyone is able to do that. The home and grounds are now a national park and are absolutely beautiful. I’m jealous again.

The weather is superb: in the high 70’s and sunny. We went to a neat place for breakfast called Shepherd’s Pie on the Green. We sat outside and overlooked a large, beautiful lawn (“the Green”) and New England colorful trees on the side of the hill in the distance.
We spent the rest of the day sightseeing around Quechee and Woodstock (about seven or eight miles west). It’s beautiful ...
