Day two in Shrewsbury was a little more laid back. Into Rutland we headed for supplies returning home by a different route to see more of the countryside. Yummy corn on the cob was for lunch followed by a restful afternoon around the farm, including the picking of apples for the up-coming cider brewing.
We finished the day with another marvellous feast prepared by John. A good time was had by all.

It turns out that Annick and Fabian, my Quebecer friends slept under the bridge that we planned to meet on today. I waited for a couple minutes, wondering from which direction they would approach the bridge, not considering underneath as an option. Funny way to start the day. The cost of living is astronomical, but it pays for a very high quality of life; the roads are in excellent shape, co-ops and health food stores abound, nearly every town, small and smaller has a bike shop, and the environment is pristine. ...
The fourth of July was sunny and warm. The parade was great, we wached it from the library. Kathryn was up so we had traditional salmon and peas. The next few days were sunny and humid. I left today and it waw overcast with showers.
