The Cape Fear pilots are especially good with this and as long as one pays close attention it's not unsafe to slowly make way like this along the side of the ship channel.       ... lot of trailer parks and trying to find a campground has been difficult because a lot of them turn out to be trailer parks. The campground we went to in Wilmington looked good online but it turned out to be a little bit creepy. Good news is the price was great and there were a lot of friendly cats and dogs to pet. Bad news is the place gave me the heebie-jeebies. We got through the night no problem and really I’m sure everything was fine but we packed it up the next morning ...

      We awakened this morning to 44 degrees, 20 mph northeast wind, and an anchor that was buried in the hard sand bottom of Banks Chanel, After considerable effort and super numb hands, Maggie and I got the anchor up and aboard as we headed down Masonboro Sound and the short cut thru Shinn Creek to the ICW. Now we were headed dead downwind and that lessened the effect of the bone chilling wind.
