... my mom and grandma came to visit. But, of course, with visiting the Kildows, we didn't do much there beside sleeping. This weekend, however, we bought a bunch of groceries to fill our full-size refrigerator, and with which to prepare dinners each night. We also look forward to doing our FREE laundry.

So today has been very homey. We woke up and made some eggs, bacon, and toast for breakfast. We rented a free ...

The Andy Warhol Museum

... spend one more day longer with this guy, there is definitely no way I could've kept my mouth shut next time he said something so ignorant and ridiculous.

The crepes were artfully done, but a world away from the crepes I ordered last time. Credit crisis in the capitol

... from the Lincoln Memorial. So within a few minutes walk we were at the War Memorial and "The Mall" which I found out was not in fact a hidden shopping mall! On our first night in Washington we felt like a cheap night in and some healthy food so I volunteered to take a walk to a grocery store a 'few' roads up on R street, which did look too far according to the free tourist map. It turned out to be a one hour hike both ways and the pouring rain did not make it ...

Going home

... had planned to take MetroBus to Dulles Airport, 45 minutes away. It was only $3.10 per person, so it was a great deal over other transportation options. Not sure how reliable it was, we chose to go very early, hoping to be able to walk to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space museum if we had extra time. The bus was on time, and we were pleased to find out that though it is too far to walk to the museum, there ...

Washington Monument, National Cathedral, and more!

... our home Metro station it was suddenly cool, windy, and cloudy. By now we knew that meant rain was afoot. We dashed into McDonalds for some dinner, cherry pies, and raspberry mango milkshake (yummy!). We didn't have rain ponchos or an umbrella, and we got soaked--finally understanding what they meant when they say it rains sideways here. One food bag got so wet that it broke, but fortunately we didn't lose any food. Quite an adventure to end the day!

Gimme a little Paste

... I go in there and I'm like, my finger doesn't work, and, to their credit, they take my money anyway. Nevertheless, the real action started when I was actually with the physio. And what follows is true events and words almost verbatim. Because I still had some swelling in my finger, the p.t. said I needed to do some exercises to get that to go down. I am sitting on a stool in front of her. She grabs my finger as my arm rests on my knee. Her hands are practically between my legs and ...

The bus driver leaves us high and dry

... front of the Capitol Building and looked down the length of the National Mall to the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial at the far end. I suffered a moment of horror as I went to move Jay's camera bag off the wall, as it was in the way of my photo. Little did I realise that the camera was inside, and it fell out of the open bag. It seemed to fall in slow motion, and I was already counting the cost of a replacement as it hit the concrete. Unbelievably, it didn't even ...
