Nasty Nasty Nasty

I wish I had read the reviews before I booked my room. When we arrived (at least an hour after check in) we had to wait 2 hours for our room to be cleaned. We were exhausted and when we finally got to the front desk they had an attitude. I couldn't leave because it was the beginning of spring break and the entire city was booked including the 215 filthy rooms at the Red roof inn. After a long day at the Alamo the next day, we returned to find our room had not been cleaned and the guest service rep said, "We only change sheets every 3 days." We only stayed 3 nights so needless to say...I don't care if the Red Roof inn was the last place in San Antonio available, I would rather sleep under the bridge across the street from the hotel. At least it would be free. Please take into consideration each review listed. These people are not lying, and if the Red Roof inn continues conducting business like we experienced, they won't be in business for much longer. DON'T stay! Your money is too valuable.

This place is garbage

This place is very bad. I have stayed in many many hotels and this is by far the worst. ANTS in our room. Only two towels per day. No shampoo unless you ask for it at front desk. One of the beds was broken leaning to one side. I highly suggest you do NOT stay here.

Take it or leave it

When we checked in at 6:00 several rooms in our party weren't ready. All the public trashcans needed to be emptied and the parking garage needed to be cleaned. The motel is older and you can tell it. The pool is very small. It was nice to be walking distance of everything, but there was a lot nicer motels just as close. If you want something cheap and in a good location, it would be okay. I would rather stay in something a little bit nicer.

A room with beds and a bathroom

Two towels (unless you ask for more everyday)

No hairdryer

No iron

No coffeemaker

No shampoo, conditioner or lotion

They only vacuum the middle of the floor (edges are filthy)

unfriendly staff (except for Sylvia)

weird TV remote (connected to a slinky cord that pulls back to the TV)

However, the granddaughters liked the pool.

The continental breakfast was okay but you need to take the apples, oranges, bananas, muffins or bagles to your room. (thats all there is)

Trolly is right outside the door which is nice.

But considering the rates of the other motels you need to consider this if you are on a budget.

WORST hotel ever!!!!!

I booked this hotel based on the recommendation here. I paid $90 (tax included). It's not worthed every penny I spent here. The carpet's room was so dirty, torn-off here and there and moldy. The breakfast was just juice and muffin. The staffs were rude. I booked a large room and got a small room (my kid tripped twice in the room) and the staff told me all rooms had the same size. So, why they advertised "Large Room" for something they don't have???

It gives you what you see at internet

Simple but clean. Location is really good for Convention Center.

Good location

Short walks to downtown - the Alamo, Riverwalk, Rivercenter and La villita. Rooms were comfortable, clean and big. The breakfast area was very small, just two small tables, bagels and/or muffins every day while we stayed there. The pool's right next to the parking lot, be sure not to get a room on first floor facing it - windows won't open and noise til 10 pm. Unfortunately no laundry facilities but a microwave at the breakfast aera.

Brilliant for the price

RedRoof Inn is within 5 blocks to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. We got a rate of $69 a night for a business room with a desk, fridge and a microwave. If you want fancy the pick a fancier hotel. If you want clean, friendly, good location, cheap, then the Red Roof Inn is for you. We didnt want to walk one night so we got a cab from the bar at the Marriott. It was $2.70. That cab fare saved us a hundred bucks from not staying in a more "prestigious hotel". Brilliant. I would definately recommend this place.

Best Downtown Value

Great relatively new construction hotel in terrific downtown location. Quick walk to Rivercenter & the riverwalk. Simple but functional rooms. Ample free parking. A little noisy if your room overlooks the freeway; make sure you ask for one on the other side of the hotel if occasional traffic noise bothers you. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Don't let the inexpensive rates fool you -- this is by far the best value you can find in downtown and you won't be sorry.

Great Place & Great Value!

We stayed at this Red Roof Inn in August, 2003. This was our 1st Red Roof Inn experience for us. If you want a nice clean room, downtown, within a short walking distance to the Riverwalk & its shopping mall and do not want to pay $100/night, this is the place! I think we paid about $50. This motel is new. We checked in while the maids were still cleaning the rooms so we got to see other rooms on our floor. All rooms were oversized and very comfortable. This motel also has a free covered parking garage! Their cont. breakfast was acceptable. No cereal or milk. There were a lot of pre-packaged individually wrapped pastries and muffins. Plenty of coffee & juices. The breakfast area was not very big. Most guests came down to get the food and went back to the room to eat. And if possible, ask for the room on a top floor facing the highway. Our room was on 3rd floor and we did not hear the highway noise! You will get to see the downtown from your window. We will definitely go back to this Red Roof Inn!
