... 1950s diner called "Clocked"for a burger and a huge thunder and lightning storm blew through....very fast and tons of rain for about 30 minutes. We were outside until the lightening got a little too close and then we moved inside....first time we had a not really friendly server. ... which are just outside Athens... They ar stunning, and free a beautiful tropical greenhouse, a herb garden and a Physic garden... Then an international, flower, shade, native, an old fashioned settlers garden and a lovely group of sculptures at the visitor center. We could have stayed much longer. But as it was the end of the day we went to a converted garage called Teds for pizza, Happy Hour Beer at 2:50 and pizza... It's was nice as we could sit outside and people ...

... up Hwy 16 to Macon which took about 2.5 Hrs. We found Riverside Shoppes which ois a. Ew shopping complex a bit like University Center in Seattle had coffee at Starbucks in Barnes and Noble and then Inez and I shopped at Chicos....I found a nice pair of Grey jeans and Inez got a nice top. ... as brick and wood construction. Some of the old homes in the historic towns are huge, well cared for and have little plackets out front with the buildings history.

We were very lucky to find a site in the state park for the holiday weekend. We didn't have a reservation and usually the parks are full on holidays. The park ranger told us they have had lower attendance due to the economy this year. Lucky for us, though not for them.
