    We left Marathon behind about two week ago. We could have taken the ICW and stayed on calm waters but we didn't. Instead, we chose to go up the Hawk Channel (or The Outside as boaters refer to the ocean). We made this choice for several reasons. First and foremost folks warned us that the ICW (or The Inside, as boaters refer to the ICW) through the Keys was tricky to navigate due to lots of skinny, shallow waters as well as a multitude of crab pots.     Well, our flight down was okay. The connection to Charlotte was frantic. We had to boogie because we were delayed in Cvlle and there wasn't much wiggle time. Dad walked quickly. Then on to ft. Lauderdale. Now, about this hotel........Rodeway. The reason we picked this is because few hotels offer free shuttles from the airport and to the ship.
