Still our packing went well as we dodged rain squalls so we were ready at 7:30 this morning while it was still dark. This trip was so much better than the one we took in February - just rain instead of snow and no icy conditions. There ...

The day started with a way-to-early 7:15 a.m. flight from Cincinnati to Miami. We luckily found a direct flight (both ways) that was also the least expensive. Direct flights are great way to start a vacation because they are relatively stress free. Changing planes is just never fun.

Make a checklist and follow it. Even though we have setting up and leaving 'camp’ down pat – you’d be amazed at what you might forget (especially if it’s early in the morning or later in the evening). The things you forget can mean disaster (e.g., one time we left the brake on in the tow car and had to replace the ...

I am wondering if we'll have to change the passports when we get back from the trip to read, "McCarron-Dunn-Reier" or "Dunn-Reier-McCarron!" I have a feeling that we'll be like one big family upon our return.

Well, we started out a couple days later than we had planned, due to a blown clutch in the Trans Am and the resultant repair...but we're on the road now, and happy to have escaped the cold temps in Michigan! It's only about 10 degrees warmer here, but it sure felt good to be able to go outside without a jacket this afternoon - the first time in quite a while!

Mack Wilberg led the Choir in several titles from their most recent recording, Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing. I sometimes play a sort of game there: "At how many armed checkpoints will I be stopped today?" Hopefully not many this time. Through all this I'll be visiting simple people; "little people" who are holding fast to their faith, and hoping for a better tomorrow for their children.

We finally found our way and headed west on I70.
Grandma note: We arrived at Carolyn's (Lesli's friend) around 1am. We were all too tired to be very friendly. After a detailed tour of their house (!) we bedded down for the night for the first sleep in our traveling home. Brett and Lesli in the back bedroom and Cleo and I over the ...
