Monday we left Deadwood and headed for Yellowstone. On the way we made a swung off I-90 to see Devils Tower. At 13 miles from the Tower we rounded a curve and could easily see it from that distance. We spent some time at the base of the tower and watched three people climbing the face which is straight up. Two were coming down and one person was going up. Not my idea of fun but different strokes for different folks!!! We stopped on the way out to have a little picnic in a lovely park a...

Billings, Montana, United States hollidayThe Hampton was nice, new and comfortable. We woke this morning, enjoyed the hotel breakfast. We organized our bags and cleaned out the car; tossed out our cooler, food, drinks and utensils then headed for the airport. Billings is another extremely small airport. It was easy to park the rental car and walk to the gate.

Let the all day journey home begin....

We're delayed to Denver, 20 minutes.
Billings, Montana, United States brentandjo... a word. Just listened to it all.
I was disgusted in myself and disgusted in every person on that bus- including the mother of those beautiful little things for allowing them to be subjected to that.
What could I do? In any other environment I maaaay have said at least something, but here, in the middle of nowhere- on a GREYHOUND bus was probably not the battle I would have chosen.
If 'tutting' was a punch in the face then I beat the **** out of him. Billings, Montana, United States nocknock... US Army horses preceeded one to the Native Americans by many decades. We spent a whole day at the battelfield and its environs, and it was not enough time. I guess we'll have to go back. We did have some excitement around noon with a flat tire, but Eric, our intrepid driver, took the bus away for a while and got the tire replaced. We have been searching for an appropriate Indian ...
Billings, Montana, United States linda_allenMontana never ends! This state is massive. After shoving out of Billings we thought we might be forever traversing across Montana. In sharp contrast to it's natural resources is the large number of depressed roadside shantys or shantytowns. Montana is full of them and Wyoming seems to have a fair share as well. At least 10 broken down rusted trucks and cars, abandoned machinery, trailers and shacks hodgepodged together seem to form the ...
Billings, Montana, United States boatubia... a number of years ago presenting American history through the eyes of minorities, or those without the power and it gives a much different view than our textbooks give us. Anyway, enough of that, it was just interesting to get to see a place like that, something like Mount Rushmore but on the opposite end of the spectrum.
It was a beautiful day and after spending a couple of hours there I went on north and had a cheeseburger deluxe at the Schwarzwald ...
