... KS at 6PM, which was actually 7PM, because we picked up on hour entering the Mountain Time Zone. Long day, 628 miles. Dinner out at Pizza Hut, in bed early.
Sun Oct 6--left WalMart at 7AM, arrived Glenwood Springs 2:30PM. Will be here 4 days. The fall color was at "peak" driving through Vail, CO. I may drive back up there for some photos.

As we left this morning we had decided that we wouldn't take any pictures or post our trip across I70. Yes, I70 takes you through some of the most beautiful mountains you have ever seen and through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. But come on...we have posted and posted and posted. Then when we came down from Vail Pass, a 7% grade for almost 10 miles, we came out onto what I would call high desert. From a distance it looks like big hills of sand. It certainly has ...
... which was really nice. I feel like we have been on the go since we left home. Dinner turned out to be fabulous. We were all happy to not cook or do dishes. Ray bought us all dinner which was really generous. Thanks for dinner and another lovely day.
PS. Lesley and Ray wanted me to tell you all Hello and that they are a little disappointed in the lake of participation. Every day they ask "How many comments did we get?" and I have to tell them zero.

We checked into our hotel and found a nearby park along the river to grill dinner. Tonight we had tilapia, shrimp, veggies and salad and decided we are the best restaurant in Colorado. While dinner was on the grill we played a very competitive game of ladder golf. We enjoyed the sunset and watched a train roll through the valley. We are off to bed early tonight so we can get up early tomorrow and hike to Hanging Lake.
