... by the thick snow. The bus took us into Nelson to our hotel which is renowned to be a cool hippy town. Sally, Larns, Steph and I shared a lovely room and went out for Mexican dinner before the drinking started! Allana had an awful cough so she stayed home to rest the poor thing. ... we were only a walk down 10 stairs to get to the party but the bad news was that our room was right above the party so it was a little loud at night, luckily we stayed there mid week!

The dining options are quite scarce in Rossland however we did find the place probably classed as the best in town across the road called Idgies. The food there was amazing and portions were massive.

... Christina Lake, a big lake that apparently is the warmest lake in Canada so it never freezes. Walked down to the lake, and yes, the water was warmish, particularly in comparison with Waterton Lake. This is a summer location with holiday homes just about all round the lake and only a small permanent population. Most places are closed and the place we went to dinner is operating on reduced days and will close over Dec/Jan. One more travel day ...

We were able to bike up Red Mountain with a friend, Dan, and also hike up Mt. Roberts. I've done an entry on Roberts before, last fall, when we did it on a chilly day. It was much nicer this time ...
