... barren dessert with shrubs and grasses, more cows than people, and the occasional town built on one road with a gas station and a general store. You'd see towns advertised on milage signs from miles away. "Silver Springs, 37 miles. Silver Springs 12 Miles. Silver Springs 1 mile." And then you'd get to Silver Springs and it would be like 20 little houses, a gas station, combination liquor store/grocery (with liquor store listed first on the sign) and a casino. ... had to work a little. The truck performed perfectly. This diesel can pull hard without as much as working up a sweat and the integrated exhaust brake and trailer brake controller working in tandem is really fantastic. There is no jerking when the brakes are applied, the engine just purrs at 1400 rpm @ 60 miles per hour and rather than averaging 7.5-8.0 mpg the truck averaged over 13 mpg- 62% increase in mileage-Sweeet!

Even the $1 store has books that are average to read so we've managed
to keep up with our favourite pastime. Plus Shauna and Deb have
loaned books for the trip too which at least 2 or 3 of us can all
read plus Ray gave us some magazines and readers digests. We're
finding everything we need is provided. Thank you Lord for providing
    good people all around us!

... carrying the net that is used to capture the eggs that all float on the surface. Together they pull out the 1000 ft long net around the bloom, encircling it and squeezing it tighter and tighter until finally the eggs are vacuumed out of the water. Eventually the eggs are dehydrated and sold as fish food. I found the whole concept of commercial fishing on Salt Lake fascinating. Alas, I didn`t get any pictures of the brine, the eggs or the ...

... the word for today is SNOW. Soon we were in the thick of it. The temperature dropped to 31 degrees, and we found ourselves driving through heavy snow fall, on this winding road through the mountains. It was not accumulating on the road, thankfully, but it was turning the grass white and collecting on the branches of the pine trees and it looked like Christmas trees to me. I was getting nervous and Steve kept saying "Come on, ...
