Historical Traveler Reviews Red Lion Hotel Denver Central
Very Friendly Staff
The Maids were very friendly. They made you feel at home and they kept our room very clean and always said Hi when you met them down the corrider. Other Staff was Friendly as well, Thanks
We stayed one night at this hotel. It was convenient because they offered free shuttle service from the airport. It is 18 miles from the airport to this hotel, but there does not seem to be much in between. This put us close to town so that we were able to get an early start the next day. This also got us away from the expensive car rentals at the airport. We went on a holiday weekend so the car rental prices at the airport were very expensive. By staying at the Red Lion we were able to get a car in town at a much lower rate. There is an Enterprise car rental next door. We thought the lobby was very nice and our room was clean and nicely furnished. The beds were comfortable. I had read some bad reviews, but our stay was great. The staff was extremely helpful. They were eager to answer my questions about bus schedules and even informed me about their own shuttle schedule. I would recommend this hotel anytime. We did hear a couple of trains but they did not bother us. Also close by are many stores and restaurants. We are fans of Panera Bread and there was one very close by.
Three star it's not
Certainly not a stop for the business traveller. The lobby shows very well but snells very bad, don't let the pictures fool you.
The wireless connection in the rooms fail every few minutes. Some electrical outlets in the room were not functioning. This hotel is sorrounded by trains and a Yellow Cab operation.
Avoid this hotel at all costs
Not worth it
Booked on priceline-what a joke. Rude staff, dirty rooms and horrible location.(Industrial) Priceline is usually excellent on their ratings but this time they are way off on the 3 star rating. The lobby is 3 star while the rest of the hotel is a low 2 star. The concierge told me there was no downtown transportation as they acted like they could care less.
Choose another hotel and skip the Red Lion.
Better then I expected
I stayed at this hotel for 2 reasons 1.) price 2.) free shuttle downtown. For the price I paid around $50 a night I was very happy with the room and serive. The entrance to the hotel is hard to find and the free shuttle downtown is confusing to use at first. The breakfast buffet is also overpriced. But now that I've done it once and know how to find it and how to use the shuttle and to avoid the breakfast I will for sure be staying here again on my next Denver get away. Because you get a lot for your $
Hotel security is very bad.
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. I had a really bad experience, my laptop was stolen from my room. Street leading to the hotel entrance is too confusing. Even the service is very bad, I called house keeping 3 times for coffee, but still got them after 4 hours.
Room was clean & quiet. There's nothing around the hotel. You'll need to drive to get downtown or depend on the hotel van for transportation.
Although the front desk staff was nice, everything else is well below average. Let us check in somewhat early.
Cheap and it shows
Just stayed at the Red Lion Central for three nights attending a conference. I had an interior room but a friend had an exterior room that faced the railroad tracks. Train came by nightly at 2:30 a.m. blowing it's horn. Hotel says that's it's going thru a remodel job but I didn't see it. No water in pool when I arrived. They were filling it on the day I left. Gym equipment was outdated. My room was okay. Furniture was old. No stopper in sink would cause concern if I was taking off jewerly over sink. Food service was bad. On the lunch buffet, they didn't have bread out until I asked them if they were going to put it out. Food service in bar area was a joke. Coors Light draft was $4.00!! Would not recommend this hotel unless you are on a very tight budget
