When I booked my Christmas Eve flight, I patted myself on the back for being "such an adventurer". Austin was less than 4 hours drive from Dallas. We arrived and went straight to Ladybug lake and read my book whilst Allana played guitar along side it. We got into contact with Jess Leckie and she was staying with her old Aussie housemate Ryan and his girlfriend Amanda. They were really cool people! She invited us to a free Shakespeare in the park event near their house. We met Jess's friends Hayley and Hannah also. Allana and I slept in our van on the street next to Ryan and ...

Our first stop was a cute little cafe just outside of Austin that Kasia found ...

... bars, good food and great atmosphere. We ended up having drinks with him till almost 11pm and then we thought we better go meet the rest of the group at a dollar bar. There's one street in Austin that all the college student go to. Therefore it has really cheap drinks. Extremely cheap - try dollar shots! It was the undoing for a few people I think. We meet the rest of the group and we ventured around to a few bars, mostly hanging out with George. Before we knew it, it was 2am ...

... life. A model of his Oval Office as well as a recreation of Lady Bird's office are very interesting. Letters and recordings of Johnson's phone calls bring his personality to life.

We had a great lunch at Eastside Cafe and then headed to the Capitol. We stepped right into one of the scheduled tours of the building amidst Cinco de Mayo celebrations. ...
