... going north-ish. In America, that kind of knowledge will actually get you almost exactly where you need to go. Not like in Sydney where you need a treasure map, a compass, planetary alignment, a sacrifice to the gods of traffic, and a prayer to find where you need to be. (And when you get there, there won't be a parking spot for eight kilometres in any direction and you're wearing high heels.) Not the case in America, though. Really super ...

Zion N.P.- many thumbs up

... good variety of scenery. The Virgin River is pretty tame and small but flashfloods, which are common, can turn it into a monster. We were soaked, covered in mud, battered and bruised - but totally exhilarated! And Maaike, a 16 yr old who should have been worried about her nails, kept up and often led us through the most difficult parts, jumping into the mud pits with glee! It was a fantastic day. Our guide Ben ...

... in the backpack as we got further into the walk that had many river crossings. Before we knew it we had walked about 2.5 miles so decided to turn around as the canyon continued for another 17 miles and we didn’t bring enough food and water.

We got back to Zion Lodge at about 2:30pm and were starving (Zach ate all the food I brought) so we had lunch there and chilled out on the huge lawn for a few hours before leaving our bikes and ...
