After spending the previous day on secondary roads I spent most of the day on freeways … and was terrified that I’d never get there. The freeways are very fast and BUSY with traffic. I stopped at a rest area and crossed the freeway by way of an overpass to have a look at a view from the other side and could hardly stay upright because of the wind, so, clearly the wind was contributing to my fear on the road.

A great first day of my trip! Wanted to go straight to Virginia on my first day, and made it.
A beautiful ride through the Appalachian mountains.

formed at the Episcopal church ( Robert E. Lee was a member) of enormous
proportions. At the head was a brass band with muffled drums followed

... tailgating, that is having picnics from the backs of their cars prior to the game. However, these are more elaborate than a few sandwiches and a bag of chips.
