... or dragging down on each other. As it turned out, once in the marina, Dave heard from several of the other cruisers who had personally experienced boats dragging down on them or they were dragging down on other boats and fled to the marina! Sometimes $80/night isn't a bad deal! Ran into a couple of cruisers we had met at Warderick over Easter. They holed up here in Nassau (while we were holing up in Warderick). Everyone ...
Nassau, Bahamas takinbetz... so there were about 30+ midgets including the few teenagers, hyped up on hotdogs, marshmallows and sugar running and screaming up the beach with sparklers and glow sticks and generally having a great time. There are some beautiful little beaches that we have walked along, a couple of hills to climb, food to cook, but mostly it's been sitting back chilling and chatting to a whole lot of new people...... A lot of Americans come down to George ...
George Town, Bahamas bellavita... the weekend (Thurs-Sun we're E 20+ again). So, now we are thinking that it's time to turn around. It's almost May. Time sure does fly!!! So, we're heading north to see the Cays we didn't see on the way down. Plan on tucking in at Norman (not the pond this time!!!) to wait out the strong easterlies this weekend. There isn't anything on the Cay except McDuffs bar - so at least we'll have a place to hang! From there ...
GREAT GUANA CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... on. We were going to head over to a creek that flows through the island and see if we could get to Camp Driftwood. However, heading in that direction, the engine had problems and the tide was going out. We could end up walking back with the dinghy then swimming it back to the boat so turned around and headed for The Well. Hopefully on our way back up through here we can get ...
Shroud, Bahamas takinbetz... around the ship to get our bearings. The cruise was an all-inclusive deal, meaning you could eat & drink as much as you wanted, and included 24 hour pizza & ice cream! Oh dear! Fortunately, Mike had also mentioned that they allow you to take on a bottle of wine each...so to keep costs down, that is what we did! We enjoyed a very nice 3 course meal with an amazing dessert - similar to the M&S melting middle chocolate pudding! Yummy! The evening on board we ...
Nassau, Bahamas traceourtracks... we speculated may have been looking to build there because they landed and then flew off around the island twice. On our walks we discovered many lots for sale and there is a small airport here. There is evidence of hurricaine damage and one of the beaches was covered in washed up plastic trash, water bottles, gas cans, detergent bottles etc., it was so appalling that it made you feel you ...
Manjack Cay, Bahamas darborn... so we don't arrive completely clueless. After global studies, I went to my Classical Islam class that is being taught by a very knowledgeable follower of Islam. I'm sure he is going to push us and make us all question our beliefs in one way or another but I am ready for the challenge. One thing that I was most surprised about learning today is how similar Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are. Of course they all acknowledge Abraham as the father of ...
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... tip the police to have them help you... lol It all sounds a bit negative and I think its just me getting used to these different customs and also spending money, which I cringe at, at the best of times. Despite these small things, I have had a great time relaxing. It was only overcast for 1 of my 5 days here and it looks like good weather for my last day.. That's about it... Next stop MIAMI! Only negative is having to deal with US Customs again ...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas jakeyboy1989... I'd pass up this hotel for something more centrally located next time. Especially when you factor in the fact that transport isn't necessarily all that cheap on the island, it's worth spending a bit more for nicer digs in a better locale. After breakfast, we hung out on Orange Hill Beach across the street from the inn. Not the most fabulous beach I've ever seen, and no real shade available, but pleasant enough for a short swim and a ...
Nassau, Bahamas moinmotion... you can just hand your luggage to the porters and be done with it. Just as you did at the airport, these porters will take your baggage, place it into bins, and the bins will then be loaded onto the ship. Your baggage will be delivered by the porters safely to your room later on that afternoon. More than likely, it will be waiting outside your door by the time you get there. The next step is to enter the terminal building and get in line to go through the ...
