... hours. Of singing Annie songs, continuously. We settled into our hotel and dinner time and I took the girls swimming while Carrie went out and picked up some southern barbecue - yum! It was a long day but fun with lots of laughter and songs! I wish I had videoed Phoebe singing "Little Girls" she does a mean Ms. Hannagian. ... the lake, but we still couldn’t get phone or WiFi connections!

We continued our touring into Monroe City. According to the literature we have in our possession, their main claim is a church from 1897with medieval styling and stain glass windows. Well you couldn’t prove it by me, it was closed up tight. Guess we would have to hire it for a wedding or reunion in order to see it.

... trail. There is a LC campsite and historical marker along the trail about 5 miles from Rocheport and it's only accessible by walking or biking. I rode my bike to the site but didn't stay long because as Lewis noted in his journal "the mosquitoes were most troublesome". I was still very glad to get some pedal time on this section of the Katy.
It was late when I returned to Rocheport and drove a few more miles to spend the night near Boonville MO.

10:15 AM - Colby, Kansas pit stop & gas ($2.55/gal).

NOON - just past Hays, KS and the temperature is 90 degrees! Glad I didn't plan any outdoor hikes today. There are windmills all over, on both sides of road, as far as the eye can see!

1-ish - quick lunch stop at a rest area. It is hot.

4 PM - gas stop east of Topeka. Eastern Kansas has small hills & ...
