... to its Mississippi cousin. Louisiana at this latitude is unexpectedly flat and agricultural. Huge expanses of carefully tilled earth stretch away from either side of the long straight road. Soil looked black and rich. Could have grown anything there I guess. I bet it floods easy too. After crossing the Red River at Alexandria the agriculture gives way to infinite forests of pine. Nothing to do but roar on skirting the Fort Polk Military Reservation to Leesville.

... is across the lake. Sat around and visited with all the camp folks....Jimmy made his famous ribs...wow cooked for 8 hours...fell off the bones. We had splash beans....found out today what there were. Someone spilled the beans, no pun intended....so they are now called splash beans. White, red and pinto beans mixed with spices very good. Sat and chatted at the campfire all evening...late night again. ...

... Carla's friends!!!! We had crawfish for dinner along with chicken and steak....lots of food!!!! The crawfish were lots of fun....messy but delicious.
