... 66 Museum is located and took a couple of shots of the museum, but did not take the time to go through the museum.

We also quickly ran into Oklahoma City for Fred to grab a geocache and then it was on to Kansas.

After setting up in the campground, I stepped outside and saw the pink sky from the sunset and snapped at picture.

Tomorrow we continue our march toward home.

The walkie-talkies came back into play today, and I do mean play. You know what they say about boys and their toys. Karen has even gotten caught up in the fun and is getting the lingo down pat. It is funny to hear her say, “ok good buddy” to John.

Before checking into our hotel, we took a ride into the city to see the capitol building, as we often do. This one was very nice, although the state office buildings on this capitol complex looked a bit shabby. They need a power wash or a paint job, not sure which.

This trip is winding down. And I am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed for a change. Two more nights on the road and we will be relaxing this weekend at the beach. ...

We continued our trip east on I-80 passing farm fields of corn, soy beans and plants we could not identify, it got a little monotonous. At exit 379 we headed south NE 15, then east on NE 33, south on NE 103 and finally NE 4 to the “Homestead National Monument of America” just west of the town of Beatrice. Next stop on the way north was Topeka, KS. I love state capitols and Topeka is one of the few I have never seen. I picked up the Volkswalk tour map in the lobby of my hotel and enjoyed a beautiful, quiet Easter Sunday morning in downtown Topeka.



Besides the Capitol building, set off by flowering apple, cherry and redbud trees, there are some other interesting landmarks ...
