... for about 70 miles advertising for "South of the Border". The ads were hilarious so we thought we should stop in at this store. When we got there it was a mini city. Everything from rides to an alligator exhibition. Too funny. We stopped in Roanoke Rapids for the night. No rain but overcast and humid. Had a late dinner then went to the hot tub for a bit. Not a hot tub, more like a warm tub. Staying at The RV Resorts @ Carolina Crossroads. Very new, but very nice for $30 ...

So, I must now officially announce that my 27 1/4" Continental Gatorskin front tire and my 20 year old, size 9 Shimano biking shoes have finally seen their final miles. The trusty tire was one especially made for touring with super tough Kevlar ...

... trees, and an open bathroom behind the bed with Jacuzzi and triple head monsoon shower!

Our hosts, Tom and Pat, are amazing folk and hosts. They like to sleep outside, and the climate is perfect for it, so their bed is outside on a deck overlooking the lake. Best of all Tom and Pat had their grandkids over to stay so all the kids were happy as, playing and swimming off the dock. Their dock was the centre of our lives ...
