... the drivers were to make an appearance in the afternoon so we made sure we could be back from the track in time.We headed to the track to pickup our tickets and managed to sweet talk our way into a VIP Pit Walk. ... for musicians to jam. It also happens to be the place a young waitress (Janice Joplin) got her start. In this place I had to go with the special - Chicken Fried Steak with gravy, Fried Okra and San Antonio Squash. It was fantastic (sorry, no pics - I was starving and it looked too good to snap one) and a real thrill to eat in such a historic music spot.

... Clock Tower where a shooter killed so many students decades ago (the security guard that killed the shooter just died this week. The Library (even had a section about our mayor of Providence being a Head Start graduate) was great, very interesting. ... br> Tonight was the last of the open houses and it was mobbed. I have no idea how many people saw Santa, but it felt like it was in the hundreds. For a solid 90 minutes, people came filing in.
