Walked for about an hour - reached the snow line- starting to get a bit chilly - then 2 guys skiied past on the track so decided it was time to return to catch last cable car of the day back down to our hotel. Feeling sad we have only booked for one night. Would have loved to explore more around this amazing place. Another nice dinner of local cuisine ...

... and Royal Palace of Madrid. We put 3 hours into the walking tour, gave our guide some cash and left the tour (we later saw the guide at 6pm and he had just finished! We were glad we didn't do it for 7 hours!!)

At the Monasterio del Corpus Christi las Carboneras, the guide told us about how the nun's were not allowed to go outside as they weren't to see any males, but they sold cookies to tourists to make money, the transaction all went ...

The main areas of interest in Madrid are actually divided on each side of the centre of Madrid and so we needed to strategically decide what to see. We still had passes on the hop on hop off bus so we decided to first go to the east side of the city to visit the Real Jardin Botanical and then the Museo Prado, both must sees of Madrid. On our way there we also were able to revise our plans somewhat.

The visit to the botanical gardens was a special ...
