Was considering spending the night back in Gramado, but hotels now all full and didn’t fancy all that santa/xmas kitsch which was probably overrun by screaming kids. OK, a stop at a chocolate factory on the road where Canela & Gramado now practically merge, some live music, and a wood fired pizza would have been good, but it was not to be.

The best place to escape the crowds, however, was by waking up at 4 am (dusty... very dusty) to climb the second highest peak for sunrise, and all I can say is that it was utterly worth it, particularly as the descent was accompanied by the bellows of awakening howler monkeys!

... which were pretty good. The game was amazing and holland won 3-2 but the Aussies put up a great fight. The ugh next to Chris didn't have so much fun though, he must have been wasted and spent the whole game either sleeping or throwing up in his pint glass haha! After the game we went back to the fan zone to watch the next game and then back to Giordano's to pack for São Paulo!! Just an 18 hour bus ride in the way ...
