Walking in Mertola
... to grab hold of just a sheer cliff. We also met a dog along the way who decided to join us for the majority of the walk, we couldn't get rid of it at all then as we got back to the main road it turned round and went all the way home again.
In the afternoon Matt and I visited the castle which had good views of the town.
We had our last group meal at a nice Italian restaurant before a 03.50 start the next day to go back to Seville.

Canoeing the Guadiana River
... finished after about 3 and a half hours and had chance to dry off and warm up before heading off on an optional jeep trip.
The jeep trip lasted about 6 hours and was really fun, we visited various sites such as an old abandoned copper mine, a dam at the Spain/Portugal border and an inner city beach. We finished the trip with a "walk" to a waterfall which involved scrambling over massive rocks with sheer drops either side.

Travel to Mertola, Portugal
... we stopped in Aracena to visit the caves, we weren't allowed to take pictures but they were really impressive.
Our hotel in Mertola was the Residencial Beira Rio which overlooks the Guadiana River. After checking in we had a quick lunch and then had a walking tour of the town in the drizzle before heading to dinner.

In Mertola treffen wir wieder auf den Rio Guadiana, der
hier noch viel kleiner und we***** braun ist. Die mittelalterliche Stadt liegt
spektakulär an einem felsigen Gang. Über ihr trohnt eine Burg / Castello. Sie hat
eine niedliche, von einer Burgmauer umgebene Altstadt ...

... Parlez-Vous francais?" an. (Wohlgemerkt: wir haben ein deutsches Kennzeichen und befinden uns in Portugal....wer von uns käme schon auf die Idee, die Franzosen auf Deutsch zu begrüßen?) Klappt ein Glück mit dem Französisch, und sie helfen uns noch mit ein paar technischen Fragestellungen rund ums Mobil. Außerdem schenken (!!!unter den Campern ist man offensichtlich sofort freundschaftlich verbunden!!) sie uns einen USB Stick mit Stellplatzdaten aus ganz Europa von camping-car.com, ...
