Youth in Europe

A travel blog entry by dmengesha

Traveling Europe so often in trains, trams and buses gives you many opportunities to have conversations with people that normally you would not approach when walking down the street or just aimlessly going about your own life. During the four day weekend, I was fortunate enough to go to Rome, Italy and along the way I met some very interesting people, especially teenagers my age that had stories completely unlike mine. One of the most ...

Ahh Apartment living

Arrival in Rome, oh no it is still drizzling here but that is not going to stop us exploring this city. Into a taxi to 141 Via Sicilia where our apartment is. It's not too bad a 2 bedder pretty close to the tube and Trevi Fountain Check in and look around the place. Lady finally leaves and we head out to eat. We don't want too go too far as it's raining a bit. Find this little restaurant nearby, where we eat pizza and pasta. We are all starving ...

In conclusion. One of the best trips I’ve been on, some of the most spectacular scenery, a beautiful country, great travel buds. Will def be heading back to explore it more.

Morals of this story. 1. My first trip travelling solo didn’t exactly go as planned, but that said, I’ve learnt from the mistakes, and still cant believe I did it myself. Mel 3 years ago would not have done this. GO ME!

2. I have ...

Rome the Capital of the World

... and was rewarded with very few tourist and some good pics. I threw another coin in to ensure I will doubly return to Rome. I also hit up the Pantheon and got to go inside. Inside it was simply stunning. See pics.

From here I went west to the Navona Plaza which also has fountians and more breath taking architecture. Everythwere you turn in ROme there is another monument, temple, or statue to take a picture of. I headed south to the Campo de Fiori (the ...

Rome, Fascism, the Church and the Mafia

... of multi-imperial history for the first time, Italy offers something for everyone. From the unmatched warm, beauty of Sicily and the Mediterranean islands of the south, traversing the rolling hills and golden fields of the center of the country, all the way to the world renowned alps of the north, Italy is a land of beauty in every way: physically, environmentally, architecturally, linguistically, culturally and historically.

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Re di Roma Rome

    Good value smart hotel

New hotel (opened autumn 2007) in a quiet location about 100 metres from Re di Roma metro - convenient for the major sites

Rooms are small but smart, clean and modern

    Reception staff friendly and helpful

Breakfast in small room (when the hotel is full you might have to wait), with possibly the worst cup of coffee I have ever had anywhere (and in Italy too!) - ask the waitress to bring you a capuccino or espresso - much better!

Overall very good value for Rome and a perfect base to explore the main attractions

Cannot Stop Raving About Hotel Re Di Roma

I was a bit hesitant when we first booked this hotel as we couldn’t find any reviews in English... but we saw some positive remarks on a forum and decided to stick to our booking... and I'm so glad we did!

Struttura completamente nuova, personale gentilissimo e disponibile.

    - zuvorkommender, sehr freundlicher Service (z.B. Einchecker-

laubnis vor 11:00, Gepäckaufbewahrung am letzten Tag)

    - hervorragende Kommunikationsmöglichkeit (Deutsch /

    - Frühstück reichhaltig und gut

    - sehr sauber

Nuovo hotel a Roma, in zona tranquilla e ben servita dai mezzi pubblici.
