... the city. We went to Plaza Independencia and the lake, Laguna Cacique where there were some flamingos. It's a very dusty city and unlike the locals we didn't have any masks or scarfs on to prevent the dust blowing into our eyes and faces. For lunch we visited a famous hotel, Hotel Touring Club. They've had many famous guests stay including presidents, sports stars as well as Butch Cassidy and other outlaws. Later that afternoon we got a bus onwards to Buenos Aires (24 hours away).

The one major concern was when we took a detour down a dirt road and got attacked by a guard dog, who literally ran at the car with absolutely no fear whatsoever. Chris had to swerve to avoid the dog, not that he didn’t want to hit it, but just didn’t want to be chased all the way back to Puerto Madryn by some very angry Spanish farm owner!

... In Punta Tombo there are said to be 500,000 penguins at peak times and it is the largest nesting ground for Penguins outside of Antarctica.
