Loitered a long time improving the English of the vineyard staff & sampling 4 reserve Balduzzi reds with an extra thrown in for good persuasion! – shame they didn’t have a nice patio in which to do it, just a cool gloomy bodega. Apparently it was lucky to still be standing after an 8.5
earthquake 4 months ago – it has now got rebar over the adobe and then concrete – ...

... break away and let the waters flow through from the other side again. 35kms long, 5km wide and at least 60m high, the glacier can be viewed from different levelled viewing platforms. We stood there for about 4 hours in the afternoon, mesmerised. Every now and then, with a loud BOOM, a part of the glacier would break away, dropping into the lake below, creating more icebergs and a big surge of water. The blue of the ice is beautiful ... I really could have stayed ...

... up in a couple of days some items might need to be purchased - JB's boots are currently border line waterproof and the fix of taping cut up inner tube round his foot will only work for so long ! Pucon itself is a nice little town with loads of wooden framed houses and shops so it has the feel of a swiss ski resort. Lots of shops selling expensive gear like Arc'teryx, souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes etc. Some people don't like the touristy type places but as long as we can get ...
