... deliberating for ages about whether we should try and hire tents and sleeping bags we decided to buy...primarily because it would increase our options for trekking (possibly work out cheaper than renting) and also because we could use the tent in New Zealand which would make our accommodation choices cheaper!

So we have bought another tent (we now own 4 tents!)...2.2 ...

... well thought out through-pass and entered the wine making and then lakes region of Chile. We've had a week or so of just covering ground but have also explored various towns you'd never normally see. Just head for the Plaza de Armas (they all have one, it's basically the main square) and generally you can't go wrong ! Next stop Salto de Laja. Hotel out in the countryside on it's own private island - shown to our room by a member of staff. Looks good I say and off she goes. ...

... Our first stop took us to one of these ancient elevators, creaking up the steep hillside it provided a superb mirador of the bay below and our first glimpse of golden sands and shimmering waters. Chris the tour guide then took us back down the cerro towards the bustling quay where we wandered through the poor display of handicrafts on offer. ... moitié du Chili. Conséquences : inondations, plein de morts, bref la cata, ainsi que l'éruption du volcan chilien Puyehue (on y reviendra). Il y a aussi eu un tsunami qui a tué plein de monde. Le tsunami a fait beaucoup de mort au Chili, mais aussi à Hawai et au Japon.

Le 27 Février 2010 a eu lieu un autre grand tremblement de terre au Chili. Magnitude 8,8, épicentre proche de Concepcion, tsunami et compagnie, 5e séisme le plus puissant jamais enregistré. 521 morts, ...
