... so the combined train fare wasn't so astonishing.
I arrived in Strasbourg a few minutes before my brother's train so I went there to meet him. He was already there, looking around lost and confused. He spotted me and came over excitedly, and then spotted Lincoln. He made such a big scene over seeing my dog that some girls nearby laughed. He told me he had really hoped I would bring Lincoln. Of course Lincoln comes everywhere with me now!

... although awesome with rose windows and a spectacular astronomical clock, was not the best I’ve seen. You know I’ve seen too many cathedrals if I’ve become picky! We walked though what they call “Petit France” and had a traditional, delicious Alsatian dinner. Even though I remembered the delicious stew I had last time we were in Alsace and suggested it very highly to everyone else, I decided on the safe stomach option ...
Strasbourg, Alsace, France leandroopLast leg of the European jaunt and we've decided to try out the Black Forest...the bad weather was the final nail in the coffin and after 3 days of dripping foggy weather, we decided to jack in the caravan and head to Octoberfest, but more of that later.
So a quick trip to a 500 yr old stud farm started by King Wilhelm the 1st, where they breed beautiful Black Forest horses and Arabs then, Baden Baden to take in the sights of this thermal spa town and ...
... and got lost trying to find others. Our feet were tired and our minds were overflowing with information. The Zevisit audiotours were interesting and informative, but we all agreed two in one day was too many. We decided to take a tram back to the centre and browsed in a few shops on our way back to the car. Then we spotted an ice cream cafe and decided it would be nice to sit and relax with a deliciously decadent ice cream dessert.
Strasbourg, Alsace, France travelingdivaWe caught the wrong train and wound up in Gengenbach. While we were waiting for a train back we met a lady who told us the town had a beautiful old-town section. So we went discovering again. After a good look around we stopped at a pub while we were waiting for the next train and got talking to the owner. Turns out he'd been to Australia on holiday, so we had a good time talking to him until it was time to go.
Gengenbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandrozDay trip from Villingen. Wolfach has a factory cum tourist attraction where they blow the glass manually. It was good to watch them making vases etc. in the traditional way. The highlight for me was dobbing Roz in to get up on the stage and blow her own vase. She did a good job, and we bought the vase and brought it home. A very special souvenir.
Wolfach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany danandroz... Baden is a tourist attraction for the baths but also for the shopping in the quaint little town. We happened to get there as the registration for a running race was beginning. There was a lot of activity in what we figured would have been a quiet tourist town. We shopped and got some cool wire baskets for our table. We had a good look around the town but since we were coming back for dinner we decided that we would leave before the race barricades ...

... German food of very high quality. The other patrons looked like local families who were out for a multi-generational Sunday evening dinner. We looked at the rooms here and they weren't as nice as a the Adler, but the restaurant was far better!
