    ... be going down the river at 9pm in the dark on a little motorboat by the moonlight to see all the fireflies. I cannot even begin to explain how magical it was. The riverbanks had trees either side down to the water, black and still, and all of the trees either side were like Christmas Trees flashing on and off with tiny lights.     ... open all day in the city. Instead, we were treated to a huge food market in the afternoon, with many murtabak stalls and all sorts of other specialities.

    Interestingly the locals all gathered in the playing field in front of the mosque just before sunset, with their food purchases, awaiting the time to tuck in and eat together... it was quite a sight.

    Should I return another time and give this place another chance maybe?

    ... for a vegetable soup and got a bowl of beautiful vegetables perfectly crispy but sat in a bowl of warm, slightly spiced water! To follow, but it all came and the same time, we both had the salmon dish which was accompanied by penne pasta with garlic, garlic aubergine (bringal) and beans, salad and CHIPS! It was very good but far far too much for M (who ate the chips and left the pasta!)

    ... that the buses had stopped for the night we head back to find out just in case. They were right… the last bus had gone at half 6 which we could have caught if we had come straight to the right place! Another taxi man offered to drive us this time for 55RM (11) but we decided we would save the money and stay in town. It did mean that we could treat ourselves to a cheeky pizza hut after the last two weeks of rice dishes.

    ... main temple. This was added when the first Kumbabishegam was held at this temple on the 11th July 1997 and the second Kumbabishegam ceremony was held on 8th June 2008. It is mind boggling how such a huge statue had come up such an elevated cave, when the stairways had only existed around 48 years ago. ...
