We then return to Yamagata and return the car, the staff at Nippon Car Rental seems happy to see us again, maybe they had wondered if we would make it back on time? Attached to almost every train station in Japan is a hotel, here is Yamagata we booked a room at the Metropolitan Hotel which is linked to the station, just like in ...

The hostess kindly offers us an umbrella which comes in very handy! There is a lot of wind and horizontal rain, luckily we don't have far to go and the umbrella shields our faces from the rain. For several hours there are gushy winds and lots of rain, then it calms ...

This is our first layover for a few days.  We are hoping to spend a day touring and then a day to tour and enjoy lunch with our friend Yuko. The house that we are staying at is incredibly beautiful. We are up the side of a cliff with lots of stairs and very steep small road up so no worries about getting exercise. The sun ...
