Playas del Coco, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica herborg... the opportunity to go to Rincon de la Vieja, a national park with a volcanoe and some really weird things like boiling mud and suffer fumes.
Playas del Coco is a really nice place to stay at, with lots of restaurants and bars (ah, Saturday night at the Lizard Lounge ;-) !!!). I will definitely go back to Costa Rica for a longer stay when I have the chance to have a little bit more of the national vibe of "Pura Vida"...

Tamarindo, Costa Rica albert413... lanes, riding the shoulder, I think he forgot I was 2-up with all of the gear! But it was funny, I saw him get squirrely a couple of times and we never did...and we were always right on his back wheel...I think there was some mutual respect for one another when we finally got to the shop. The guys at the BMW shop were awesome...we showed up, decked out head-to-toe in our BMW gear, bearded, and smelling like bums...just like moto-adventurers should be ...
Playas del Coco, Province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica jessandmalin... some of whom were pretty rowdy. Every time we tried to get our check however, these two guys kept sending over beers for us after the boyfriends of the two girls they were originally flirting with appeared. We thanked them for the beers but made absolutely no effort to take it any further. They eventually gave up, but were nice enough to stop by on their way out of the bar. Turns out they were from Boston, and one of them owned a condo ...
Playas del Coco, Costa Rica moppet77... I am even more excited to move on to Puriscal and begin to know its community and to explore Costa Rica. Although I can't lie--I will miss the tropical drinks, the sunsets and Cat, who returns to the States on Saturday. Heck, I will even miss the dos bandidos (one of them was absent on Thursday night's visit). We even took pictures of them for you, so you will be rewarded if you make it through all of the sunset pictures.
Playas del Coco, Costa Rica moppet77... Liberia, the first town of any size in Costa Rica, found a hotel at the highway intersection that once wanted to be a Best Western, with a pool and an okay restaurant. We swam laps, cooled off, ate undistinguished food and slept in air conditioning. The next morning, we headed for the coast, the peninsula that juts down into the Pacific from Costa Rica's northern border, to a town called Tamarindo, once renowned for its surfing culture and now known for its expensive American ...
Tamarindo, Costa Rica spocream... next destination. With the rainy season and all, often times the afternoons are wet so that you end up unable to do many afternoon activities so your entire day is spent just traveling from one place to another. This distances are not even that far but with bus schedules being what they are and roads not always paved, it always seems to take longer then it should. Needless to say, we loved Costa Rica and had an amazing time! More details in the next couple blogs...
Liberia, Costa Rica andersontravel... a theme in our travels it seems that I somehow attract the freaks, wierdos, nutjobs, village idiots and garden variety wackos. They are attracted to me as if I have my own gravity that only pulls in these freaks. Some try to talk to me and others just seem to cross my path in near misses that are close enough to leave an impression or make you nervous. Sort of like those random asteroids that may or may not hit the earth and destroy it. The bus ride takes about two hours ...
