    ... Ingleby Cross. This we managed to do in only 8hrs 30min due to it being almost dead flat across the broad valley of the River Swale. Luckily there has been little rain so the paths were dry through paddocks of dairy cattle and sheep, then Lucerne and barley.     ... I am stationed in Bowness. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I must tell you in my opinion, this is a place which is somewhat pretentious and the food, while very interesting, dramatic and tasteful, does not compare to the taste and presentation of the food at Gilpin Hotel and Lake House.

    First, the maitre d' was shabbily dressed. Yes, he had a shirt and tie, but they were ill fitting. He looked as if he were dressed ...

    ... to get there, oh well, we'd better get our walking feet on then! Left the site and walked the 2 miles or so DOWN into Keswick, out the other side through a few fields into Portinscale, gave a little wave to our cottage and followed the signs to the lake, several miles later we arrived at the bottom of Catbells, skirted around this and onto the waters edge, we weren't really sure where the carving was but soon ...

    ... a slice of cake. Back on the trail again this time dropping on to the shore line of Derwentwater where Meg the dog was in here element coz she could have a swim in the lake. Spent another hour or so wandering along the shore before arriving back into Keswick where we stopped for a cuppa tea, Howard had cake, we were good :-) .
