Dinner at Al Mayass

A travel blog entry by t-king on Apr 19, 2015

For dinner last night, we wandered across the road to the Sheraton where one of the restaurants called Al Mayass and served Lebanese/Armenian food. We asked one of the waiters to select dishes for us - the food was excellent at remarkably cheap (about 280 dirham - around $100 for the two of us). We wandered back very full and had an early night, ready for an early start this morning. We are now on the plane for the shorter leg (5 hours) to ...

... part of our day came after dinner as we toured the Yas Marina Circuit, host to the Formula 1 Races! Lucky for us Mercedes was completing tests on their touring sports cars and we got to see them in action! Inside the building we watched teams compete to improve their tire changing skills.

Even so, their lifestyle far exceeds the luxury of what they could get at home. My friend has a seven bedroom, seven bath home. She feels a little bit sick about it because she doesn’t need all of that, but they don’t even have “houses” to look at when you move there. The real ...

... rounds don't rate the big bucks.

Gerald chose our hotel based on it's proximity to the race track. It boasted a zoo on the premises. When we arrived and were shown to our room we were astonished to see giraffes wandering outside our room. Their enclosure was a four foot fence. Our room opened up to this view. In the morning we had our coffee outside with the animals. Quite an experience. And surprisingly, no zoo smell. It had very clean pens ...
